  • What do I need to have/know when I call in?

When you call for reservations or availability, we can best serve you if you have the following information ready: pen, paper and calendar; date of arrival and length of stay (check-in day preference); number of bedrooms needed; desired features of your home (location, pet friendly, pool access, etc); and property number is you have selected a preference, and alternate choice.

  • Where do I check-in/pick up my keys?

If the property you have rented begins with a letter (e.g. M, H, W, S, etc), then you will pick up your keys/check-in at the Kitty Dunes Corolla office in the Corolla Light Town Center. If the property you have rented begins with a number (e.g. 0, 1, 2, 3, etc), then you will check-in/pick up your keys at the Kitty Dunes Rentals office in Kitty Hawk at milepost 4 3/4.

Kitty Dunes Rentals in Kitty Hawk is located at 3620 N Croatan Hwy on the main road, Hwy 158, at milepost 4 3/4.

Kitty Dunes Rentals in Corolla is located at 1109A Ocean Trail in the Corolla Light Town Center, across from the Whalehead Club.

  • What time may I check-in at? What time must I check-out by?

Check-in time is 4 pm. Check-out time is 10 am. There is a limited quantity of Early Check-in slots available based on home size. The cost for Early Check-in is $95 plus tax. Early Check-in is 1 pm.

Please be sure to carry your valid identification and a copy of your Vacation Rental Agreement with you to the appropriate check-in office.

  • Do I have to return to the office I checked-in at to check-out?

Yes, you must return to the office you checked-in at in order to check-out. The only exception to this policy is if your home is eligible for Express Check-out. These homes will contain information on how to do Express Check-out. Available for Currituck Club, Whalehead, Ocean Sands, Duck and Southern Shores.

  • Where can I find the cottage address and phone number?

The cottage address and phone number may be found on page 1 of your Vacation Rental Agreement. Be sure to print out a copy for your records and to carry with you into the appropriate check-in office to pick up your key packet.

  • Will the kitchen be fully stocked?

The kitchen will be stocked with all dishware, flatware, pots and pans, eating utensils and dining utensils. You will need to bring pot holders, paper towels, napkins, dish soap, dishwasher detergent, dish towels, and all food items, including staples such as salt and pepper, flour and sugar.

  • Are there pillows and blankets on the beds?

Single beds will have one (1) pillow each, while Double or larger beds will have two (2) pillows each. Comforters will be on the beds, though you should bring extra blankets if wanted.

  • Does the home have linens (sheets &/or towels)?

Some homes provide the Flyers Club, which provides sheets and/or towels for your stay. Those homes that do not provide Flyers Club will automatically have sheets and towel rentals placed onto the reservation. You may opt-out of this service simply by signing the lines on your Vacation Rental Agreement.

Flyers Club homes indicate if they provide Sheets Only or Sheets & Towels for the property.

If the home provides Flyers Club - Sheets Only, the following items will be included: flat and fitted sheet for all beds in the home; 2 pillow cases for Full, Queen and King beds or 1 pillow case for Twin beds.

If the home provides Flyers Club - Sheets & Towels, the following items will be included: flat and fitted sheet for all beds in the home; 2 pillow cases for Full, Queen and King beds, or 1 pillow case for Twin beds; 1 towel set per person for the set occupancy of the home (please see your VRA for the set occupancy of the home), each towel set includes 1 bath towel, 1 hand towel and 1 wash cloth.

If your home states w/beds made, your sheets will be on the beds, except for bunks. Otherwise, sheets and/or towels will be located in a black utility bin outside the home.

  • What comes with my purchased Guest Linens package?

Guest linen packages include the following items: flat and fitted sheet for all beds in the home; 2 pillow cases for Full, Queen and King beds, or 1 pillow case for Twin beds; 1 towel set per person for the set occupancy of the home (please see your VRA for the set occupancy of the home), each towel set includes 1 bath towel, 1 hand towel and 1 wash cloth.

Beds will not be made unless you pay an additional fee for this service. Guest Linens will be located in a black utility bin outside the home.

  • Does the home have a washer and dryer in it?

You may determine if the home has a washer and dryer by looking at the information for each property. There, you will find W/D listed in the amenities if the home has a washer and dryer.

  • Does the home have Air Conditioning (AC)?

All rental homes in Kitty Dunes Rentals program are required to offer some form of AC. Please look at the amenities list for each home to determine the type of AC available.

  • How far is it to the beach?

Each home’s distance to the beach varies. Please refer to the amenities information to find out your home’s distance to the beach or public beach access. If this information is not available on the web, please contact one of our reservationists and ask the distance to the beach.

  • How many miles are between mileposts?

A silly question to some, perhaps, but this is commonly asked. At one time, there was one (1) mile between each milepost. Currently, there is one-half (1/2) mile between each milepost.

  • What does 4WD mean?

4WD means that the area requires a vehicle that is capable of 4-wheel Driving. All-wheel drive is not the same as 4WD. Please refer to the Owner’s Manual of your vehicle to determine if it is 4WD.

  • When will my Security Deposit be refunded?

Security Deposits will be refunded within 45 days of check-out date, less any damage costs or charges.

  • What is a park grill?

A park grill is a charcoal grill that is cemented into the ground. These grills cannot be moved from their location and are similar to the grills you can find at areas where you can picnic and some parks.

  • What side of the Island is the ocean on?

The ocean is to the east - catch a sunrise. The sound is to the west - catch a sunset.

  • May I have a bonfire on the beach?

Fires and/or bonfires on the beach are not permitted in most areas. You will receive a fine if you start a fire or bonfire on the beach. If you are staying in the town of Nags Head, you may apply for a beach bonfire permit at Town Hall.
